Refugee advocates have today confirmed that the last of the refugees who were being detained in the Park Hotel, Carlton, have been granted visas (albeit temporary) and released into the community.
It was a long fight for advocates, who dug in for nearly two years in support of the detainees, with a wide variety of different actions and protest tactics being used to raise awareness.
Below is a round up of photos from actions and protests that have taken place at the Park Hotel – in support of the refugees who were being detained there – over the last nearly two years. Some of these photos haven’t been published until now.
This of course is far from the end of it, as refugees still remain languishing in detention centres across the country. For now, at least, the Park Hotel chapter of the fight for refugee rights draws to a close.
