Protesters occupy rooftop of fossil fuel executive’s home

Protesters have this morning occupied the rooftop of Viva Energy CEO Scott Wyatt's home in Edithvale.

Viva Energy is seeking to build a gas storage terminal in Geelong's Corio Bay. Which, aside from new gas infrastructure being utterly irresponsible amidst a climate crisis, would require significant dredging of the bay that it's situated in. Not to mention that consumers are increasingly transitioning away from gas.

Now, a fossil fuel company going through all this trouble to secure a floating gas storage hub isn't going to forgoe making money on its investment despite shifting sentiments of domestic consumers. Where is Viva Energy going to make this profit? Export, and ramping up gas production to meet this demand.

It really makes claims by the company that it's to secure domestic gas supply to be a furphy.
