Celebrating 20 years of Camp Sovereignty and the Black GST

by Matt Hrkac | Mar 13, 2026 | Cultural Events, Events

We were invited to photograph the 20 year anniversary event of Camp Sovereignty.

The event combined two components: traditional dances performed around the sacred fire, and a concert put on by a series of Indigenous musicians and artists. These acts were interspaced by various speakers representing various sections of the Aboriginal sovereignty movement.

Dancers included the Djirri Djirri; Gunditjmara, Yuin, and Bidjara woman and Camp Sovereignty firekeeper Yaraan Couzens Bundle, and others.
