Five activists from Extinction Rebellion South Australia glued on at the Adelaide Convention Centre car park entrances, disrupting day one of the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA) conference.

In a statement on the Extinction Rebellion South Australia Facebook Page, the activists were "aiming to prevent delegates from arriving [to the conference] by car".

Incoming traffic was held up for more than two hours, and four of the glued on protesters were arrested.

The action marks the third day of action in opposition to the APPEA conference, which is being attended by representatives of the biggest oil and gas companies.

The action on Tuesday morning follows two arrests on Monday following a disruption at the South Australian Drill Core Reference Library.

In a statement, Extinction Rebellion South Australia spokesperson Catherine Cox says that the South Australian government is "supporting an organisation" that "denies climate risks, ignores the scientific facts and [...] continues to explore and produce more oil and gas".

"I'd do everything in my power to raise the alarm. This is an emergency and I'm acting accordingly", Cox said.

Cox, along with Andrew Derrington, Marc Wilson and Louis Umlauf were the four protesters arrested. Further disruptive actions are planned in the coming days.
