In the 18th consecutive week of rallies in Melbourne, more than 10,000 people turned out to demand a permanent ceasefire, and a lifting of the siege, in Gaza.
This week's rally takes place amidst a major escalation of violence in Rafah, on the southern end of the Gaza Strip.
More than 1.5 million people who have been forced to flee from the northern portions of the Gaza Strip amidst the destruction, are currently sheltering in Rafah, the last purported 'safe zone' in the Gaza Strip. It's currently one of the most densely populated areas on earth.
The state of Israel has commenced bombing this area - inflicting more destruction and mass civilian casualties ahead of an anticipated ground invasion.
